About LWY series liquid turbine flowmeter

The LWY series liquid turbine flowmeter belongs to the velocity type flow instrument. Sensors have the characteristics of simple structure, lightweight, high accuracy, good repeatability, sensitive response, and convenient installation, maintenance, and use. They are widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical, metallurgical, water supply, and papermaking, and are ideal instruments for flow measurement and energy conservation.

The vortex flowmeter has no moving parts, a sturdy and simple structure, is not easy to block, not easy to block, not easy to scale, and is resistant to high temperature and high pressure. It is widely used to measure the flow rate of steam, gas, and liquid. It is one of the widely used flow meters. In order to ensure the measurement accuracy of the vortex flowmeter in the long term, the correct installation of the vortex flowmeter is an important foundation. Next, we will explain in detail how to correctly install a vortex flowmeter and the precautions for its installation.

We need to first understand the requirements of the installation environment for vortex flow meters:

(1) Try to avoid high current equipment, high-frequency equipment, and strong switching power supply equipment as much as possible. The power supply of vortex flowmeter should be separated from these devices as much as possible to prevent external interference.

(2) Avoid high humidity environments and highly corrosive gas environments. Ventilation measures need to be taken during installation.

(3) Try to avoid installation in environments that directly affect high-temperature heat sources and radiation sources. If it is not possible to choose, insulation and ventilation measures need to be taken.

(4) Try to install the vortex flowmeter in sections with weak vibration. If unavoidable, pipe fastening devices can be installed in the upstream and downstream two-dimensional areas, and anti vibration pads can be added to enhance the anti vibration effect.

(5) Vortex flow meters should be installed indoors as much as possible. When installing outdoors, attention should be paid to waterproofing. Especially, the cable should be bent into a U-shape at the electrical interface to prevent water from entering the amplifier casing along the cable.

(6) When selecting the installation point for the vortex flowmeter, sufficient space should be left around for installation, wiring, and subsequent maintenance.

Requirements for Vortex Flow Meters in Pipeline Installation

The installation of vortex flow meters requires certain requirements for the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections of the installation point, otherwise it will affect the flow field of the medium in the pipeline, thereby affecting the measurement accuracy of the flow meter. The required straight pipe length for instruments is as follows:

(1) The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream pipelines should be the same. If there is a difference, the inner diameter Dp of the pipeline and the inner diameter Dp of the vortex flowmeter should meet the following relationship: 0.98Db ≤ Dp ≤ 1.05Db, the upstream and downstream pipelines should be concentric with the inner diameter of the vortex flowmeter, and the axial degree difference between them should be less than 0.05Db.

(2) The gasket between the instrument and flange should not extend into the pipeline during installation, and its inner diameter should be 1-2mm larger than the inner diameter of the instrument.

Installation steps of vortex flowmeter

(1) Drill holes on the pipeline according to the requirements of the hole size, so that the hole position meets the requirements of the straight pipe section.

(2) Place the complete flow meter connected to the upper flange into the open pipeline.

(3) Perform welding positioning on both sides of the two flanges. Remove the flow meter, weld the flange as required, and clean all protruding parts in the pipeline.

(4) Install the same sealing gasket as the pipeline through the inner groove of the flange, and install the vortex flowmeter in the middle of the flange, so that the flow direction mark of the flowmeter is the same as the fluid direction.

Installation of Vortex Flow Meter on Horizontal Pipeline

(1) When measuring gas flow, if the measured gas contains a small amount of liquid, the flowmeter should be installed at a higher position in the pipeline.

(2) When measuring liquids, if the measured liquid contains a small amount of gas, the flowmeter should be installed at the bottom of the pipeline.

Installation of vortex flowmeter in vertical pipelines:

(1) When measuring gas, the flow meter can be installed on a vertical pipeline, and the flow direction is not restricted.

(2) If the measured gas contains a small amount of liquid, the gas flow rate should be from bottom to top.

(3) When measuring the direction of liquid flow, the direction of liquid flow should be from bottom to top.
